Queensland’s new renewable energy generator CleanCo Queensland (CleanCo) has its first three key executives.
Former Infigen Energy boss Miles George is CleanCo’s interim Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Dutaillis has been appointed Executive General Manager – Transition, and Tanya Mills as Executive General Manager – Energy Markets Implementation.
The new appointees, who have extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, are already on deck leading the smooth establishment of the publicly-owned generator with Chair, Jacqui Walters.
CleanCo Queensland Chair, Ms Jacqui Walters welcomed the appointment of Mr George, Mr Dutaillis and Ms Mills and will work with the interim Executives to establish the new CleanCo Queensland business.
“I congratulate Miles, Geoff and Tanya on their appointments and look forward to working with them as they establish the State’s first renewables-focussed electricity generation company,” Ms Walters said.
“CleanCo is a new name in renewable energy and will take a unique position in the market as it supports Queensland’s transition to its target of 50 per cent renewable energy generation.
“Once established, the company will support the growth of Queensland’s renewable energy industry by building, owning and operating renewable generation assets.
“This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the long-term plan for Queensland’s energy sector.
“I am highly confident that under the executives’ leadership, CleanCo will prosper into the future.”
Mr George said he was honoured to be appointed CleanCo’s interim Chief Executive Officer and looked forward to working with the Board and industry stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for Queensland electricity consumers.
“I have every confidence we can deliver on the Government’s expectations for CleanCo and I look forward to leading the establishment of a new force in Queensland’s energy generation sector.”
CleanCo’s initial portfolio will consist of renewable and low emission energy generation assets including the Wivenhoe pumped storage hydro plant, Swanbank E gas-fired power station, and the Barron Gorge, Kareeya and Koombooloomba hydro power stations.
