COMMUNITY FUTURES FUND

At CleanCo, we are committed to having a net positive influence on the communities that host our generation assets. Through the CleanCo Community Futures Fund we support communities who help us to deliver the following priorities:

Impactful
We aim to meaningfully contribute to vibrant, sustainable and resilient communities by engaging in impactful, long-term initiatives and partnerships.
Regional growth
We support regional economic growth by fostering local supply chains, and offering training and employment opportunities to uplift communities.
Sustainable
We minimise our footprint by conserving the environment surrounding our assets, and actively invest in improved outcomes for the areas we operate in.

Practical support for rural communities

CleanCo’s Chief Operating Officer, Terry Jobling, dropped into the Royal Flying Doctor Service’s Cairns depot to see how the service has benefited from a Community Futures Fund grant.

Through the Community Futures Fund, CleanCo sponsored the purchase of a new vaccine fridge for the service – an initiative that is making a positive, practical difference in the delivery of health services to people in the most remote parts of Queensland.

Case study: homework club builds community through education

On Wednesday afternoons, the Redbank Plains Community Centre in Ipswich becomes a focal point for learning and support, with up to 40 young people from the local area attending a homework club.

The club is run by volunteers from the Sudanese-Australian Lost Boys and Girls of South Sudan Inc (SALBAGOSS INC)—a not-for-profit organisation focused on supporting people in need. The homework club provides free, after-school academic assistance for students from primary through to high school. Volunteer tutors help students with assignments, literacy, numeracy and general study skills. To further support student wellbeing, the club also offers free after-school snacks, recognising the importance of good nutrition in learning and concentration.

In 2024 CleanCo’s Community Futures Fund contributed funding to SALBAGOSS to help cover the cost of educational materials and supplies.  Our Swanbank Site Manager, Trevor Turner, dropped into the club to meet the tutors and students. He found the club to be a hive of activity, with young people enjoying the chance to connect and gain some extra support for their learning.
