King Ranch

CleanCo owns 736 hectares of land adjacent to North Davidson Road, Cardstone (near the entrance to the Tully Gorge).  This property is known as ‘King Ranch’.  King Ranch was formerly part of the larger ‘Tully River Station’, developed with the Queensland Government in the 1960s. Formerly a cattle property, King Ranch was sold to the Queensland Government in the early 1980s. In the late 80s exploratory works were undertaken on King Ranch for a potential hydro development, but this did not progress. Since then, King Ranch has been in the asset portfolio of various government owned generation entities and now sits in CleanCo’s portfolio of assets.

King Ranch directly neighbours the World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics Area on its north and western boundaries. Currently 100% of this land is being managed under an agistment agreement with a neighbouring land holder. CleanCo undertakes land management to remove weeds listed under the Biosecurity Act 2014.

CleanCo currently has no plans to develop this land for electricity generation purposes.
